This newest Acer Aspire series laptop is now accessible for Pre-order at online stores. The latest Acer Aspire 1410-8804 laptop is powered by 1.4GHz Intel Core2 Solo ULV SU3500 Processor and is based on Intel CULV processor. It’s also equipped with 11.6-inch HD WXGA.
Notebooks, by rule, have small screens, restricted keyboards, and poor performance. I was a premature adopter of the ASUS Eee PC 4G, and I found these trade-offs quite hard to adjust with. Acer 1410-8804 solves all of these problems. True, it do not have the horsepower of a full-size notebook machine or desktop, but my standard for a processor of this class is that it should feel receptive and have no difficulty playing video, either from the web or from hard drive, and the Acer 1410-8804 qualifies this test with flying colors.
The full keyboard which it provides makes a world of difference, and adequate space on screen to get actual work done. I am a software developer by profession, and I will not dither to use the Acer 1410-8804 when I sense like spending a weekday dawn at the local coffee shop or when I’m on the road.
I utilized the first day switching Windows Vista with a dual-boot arrangement of Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux. It would not have taken quite long, but I tried a variety of methods of setting Windows from an external hard drive prior to I gave up and purchased an external USB DVD drive. I intensely dislike Windows Vista, so I vastly recommend getting rid of it soon as you can. This machine comes with a complimentary upgrade to Windows 7 that Microsoft will propel you once it’s officially shipping. I was close to purchasing one of the “conservative” netbooks (e.g. Acer Aspire One, ASUS Eee PC 1005HA, Samsung NC10, Lenovo S10) when I read the details on this one. What it comes down to for me is that for merely a hundred dollars or a little more, you get:
1. Windows 7 (via the free upgrade) instead of XP
2. a full keyboard
3. Just double amount of RAM
4. Quite a few times extra processing power (Intel Core 2 Solo vs. Intel Atom)
5. A more munificent display (1366 X 768 vs. 1024 X 600)
6. HDMI out
7. A superior hard drive (250G vs. 160G)
8. Optical audio out
9. 802.11n networking instead of only b/g
10. A battery that fits flush with the case (rather than protrude back or down as in other machines)
What more can one possibly ask for!! That some nice configuration, and hence, was an easy decision for me.
